...Thou Shalt Not Whine...

Today I have found myself complaining. A LOT. Even now as I type this, I am struggling at being optimistic and realizing that I should NOT be complaining. I mean how many people out there have lives a million times worse than mine? Seriously. And I know this. Yet I still feel like complaining and whining all day long. Why is that? Is it the time of year or something? Isn't the transition from summer to winter the season that makes most people grumpy? Well it seems to me that it's right now this year. For some reason-who knows-people seem to be complainy and whiny right now. And it's not just me! I see other people feeling the same way and I can't help but wonder WHY? Do you know why? If so, please enlighten me. I would love to get over this phase.

To end on a lighter note, I found this quote that hopefully will help me become more grateful and happy...hopefully.

You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.

Today I...

*am wondering if summer will ever come?! I cannot WAIT for summer this year and if you know me, you know that's really weird. I'm not usually a fan of summer.

*am missing that delicious cookie dough concrete I ate yesterday...

*tried to do my math homework but definitely didn't know how.

*went on a run and it felt soo good.

*wish any of the tv shows I follow (office, OTH, modern family, bachelor) had a new episode online-but they don't :(

*am feelin' pretty proud of myself for getting a 4.0 last term and think that I should get rewarded by having the 2.0 that I'm going to get this term not count. Good idea, huh? I think so!

*wore comfy clothes to school and loved every second of it.

*am really frustrated with someone-who-shall-not-be-named. (even though if I did name the said person no one would know who it is)

*want to read a book that I WANT to read. Not a stupid one that is assigned to me! Something about having to read a book just makes me not like it. I'd probably like it if I CHOSE to read it though.

*at least want spring break! I mean come on, this is ridiculous. I want no school and some warm weather as soon as possible!

*ate an incredible apple for my lunch. Probably the best apple I've ever eaten. That's a bold statement I know. But this apple deserves the praise!

*can't wait to tutor my cute little girl tonight!:) I look forward to Tuesday and Thursday nights because of her!

*miss my Cody just like every other day. Last night I watched a movie with the Alvey's and I started thinking about you and may have shed a tear or two..

*cannot wait for the weekend. ha ha. Can you tell that I'm soooo sick of school right now?

Anyway...that's my day in a short and sweet little post:)

Senate 2011!

Just a few weeks ago Adam and I went to Bountiful's Senate dance. Let me tell ya...it was so great!

It started off with me just simply asking Adam-I know, I know. It's hard to believe, I mean we live in Utah with all the crazy asking/answering stuff! But I wanted a break and he was grateful he didn't have to be cute and clever and answer me. All he had to do was say "suuuure."

Date...check.

The next great thing about this dance was our group. What wonderful friends we have! Since it was a girls choice dance, the girls got together to plan it. It was the best. No one cared, everyone was totally just go-with-the-flow. We decided to dress up as the people from the Step Up movies (just a side note---if you have not seen Step Up 1, 2 or 3, rent them.) Some of the group went more for the gangster-dancer type, some were more ballerina-ish, totally just a mix. To tie everybody together we got black t shirts and stenciled "Step Up" on them with white paint. (that's a whole different and funny story..haha!)

Group...check.

My hair currently has purple highlights in it and the day before the dance they were fading like crazy so I ditched my last period and my sis re-did them for me. Not only that, but the day of the dance was her birthday and she STILL curled my hair for me! Cailey is the best sister ever:) Thanks sis and happy belated birthday! (hopefully I can find your present soon..ha!)

Hair-do...check.

I'm a serious stress case and I always have been. I make things harder for myself than anyone could ever imagine! That's just the way I'm programmed..ha ha. Most dances I stress over it for weeks, on one occasion I even had a complete meltdown the morning of the dance, yeah I know-I'm crazy! This dance however, was pure bliss. I was not stressed out at ALL. The whole spray paint debacle, my shirt got ruined, my skirt started fraying like crazy--yet after all of that, I just simply didn't care! Hannah, Adam and I quickly found an even better idea than spray paint, Adam was a sweetheart and fixed my shirt even after I assured him a million times that it was unfixable and that I really didn't care, and my mom came up with a solution to the fraying skirt!

Stress...NO check:)

Since our group was so wonderful and we are all friends, we decided to go to Hannah's house for dinner. It was scrumptious! Thanks for dinner Nelson's! We ate, talked, laughed, and just hung out. After dinner we went to the school for the dance-it was so fun! I can't dance to save my life, but dances can be so fun ha ha. After the dance we went to Taylor's house and ate food, played ping-pong, and watched Step Up 3! It was such a fun night and the most low-key dance. I love it!

Thank you Cailey, Thank you Nelson's, Thank you group, Thank you Adam!

One Down, ??? to Go

This semester in school I am taking Intro to Psychology. And let me tell you-as dorky as it sounds, I LOVE this class. It helps that I have some fun people in my class and that my teacher is absolutely WONDERFUL, but outside of all of that, I truly LOVE the material. We have covered the parts of the brain and their locations and functions, we've learned about major psychologists, the different areas of psychology and psychological fields that you can go into, we have deeply discussed the many psychological approaches(my favorites are behavioral and humanistic...I like to be an optimist okay?)neurons and the nervous system, and finally to the best unit ever--learning. We just started this unit today and I couldn't have been a happier girl from 12:50-2:20 pm.

Each day we receive a journal question. The point of these questions is to get your mind thinking and to introduce the new topic for the day. In order to receive full credit for the journal that day we have to write 5 complete sentences. (that doesn't seem like a lot, but write 5 sentences and you'll see that it's decently lengthy.) Most people in my class try to break their sentences up to get their 5, or just take partial credit while complaining that it's too long. I on the other hand adore these journals. I love being given an open-ended question in which I can ponder about, think about all its aspects, all the possibilities and choose what seems to sit right with ME. THERE IS NO WRONG OR RIGHT! It is beautiful. The journal question today was the following:
...Define the word "learning". What are some ways in which we learn?...
(Think of all the possible answers! Isn't it just exciting?! I think so!)
Today's journal for me filled 3/4 of a sheet of paper. Nothing was more thrilling to me than remembering back to Child Development and Early Childhood Education and applying what I learned and still remember into answering this question! Ask me a question about what I learned in say math or history like a month ago and I probably couldn't tell you. But ask me what I learned about in Child Dev or Child Ed, 6 months to a year ago, and I could tell you. That's because I LOVED learning it! I'm interested in it, I see how acquiring that knowledge can, will and DOES help me in life! AH there is nothing better..pure bliss.

Just last week I was talking with a friend about life, primarily the future, and it hurt me to say that I could never be a psychologist. (that is what she wants to be-and she will be amazing!) The first few weeks of psychology I truly thought that I might want to become a psychologist. I mean look at how excited I get over it! However, I have thought a lot about it and realized that it would never work for me. If I were to become one-no questioning needed-it would be a Child Psychologist. (working with adults...yuck.) Well clearly I have a deep love for kids-I mean what I have really always wanted to do is become an Elementary Teacher! However there is a difference in these two professions. Granted, if I become a teacher I know that I will get very emotionally attached and definitely have some hard times, but it would be nothing like being a psychologist. When it comes to kids, they have direct access to my heart and to my emotions. Seeing my nephews upset about something, seeing them cry, I literally feel my heart breaking in two. I can mostly keep my emotions in check but not when it comes to adorable, innocent, sweet little kids. I know my limits and I know I wouldn't be able to handle dealing with upset kids on a daily basis.

So to wrap it up and make my title make sense, a child psychologist is one thing that I can (somewhat sadly) take of the list as a career option for me. The more I think, the more I feel like Elementary teaching is what I'm fit for. Hopefully I'm not wrong!

Somebody Just Turned Two!

This little number...

...just turned 2 years old!

I remember the morning that my mom came to wake me up super early in the morning and told me that Chiara had finally had Marley. I was so excited! We all got ready really fast and made our way out to their hospital to meet the cute little girl whose arrival we had all been anticipating.

I can't believe how fast these past two years have gone by. Miss Marley is 2. 2!

Happy birthday Pretty Girl. Your Auntie Caddy loves you lots.

Slacker...

...the word that describes me when it comes to school. This is one of the MANY reasons why my homework hasn't been getting completed lately. :)
(sorry, when I embed the video it cuts of the right side and I don't like it. Here's the URL!)

#1: 0:12-0:15....WOW. Looooove it so much.
#2: Please tell me that his smile is not super attractive. Try it. I dare you.
#3: His voice? Doesn't it just make you melt right where you are?! Goodness.
#4: I just love how he can add his own spin to songs, yet they still are the original. Ya know?
#5: AHMIR(the 4 guys singing with him)...amazing harmony.

Basically Tyler Ward is incredible. He's all I have listened to for about 2 weeks, and I've pretty much listened to him nonstop. Listen to Fireworks, Break Even, Live Like We're Dying, Wonderwall...basically listen to everything that includes the name "Tyler Ward" and you won't be disappointed.
